Frequently Asked Questions
We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
The eligibility of your company depends on various factors, such as the investment idea, the main economic activity and the size of the company, and many others. Determining eligibility is a topic you can discuss with our expert.
The grant amount (grant) is determined by the funding available for each procedure, the type and amount of costs, the status of your company, and its place of business. Most OPs require mandatory co-financing of the project, and in many cases refinancing of most of its implementation costs.
To determine the location of the company, two criteria are used cumulatively: place of registration of the company and place of performance of the main activity of the company (where the enterprise is physically located). The planning regions (NUTS 2) are:
South-Western Planning Region (SWDP) – including: 1. Sofia-city; 2. Sofia district; 3. Kyustendil District; 4. Blagoevgrad District; 5. Pernik District
South Central Planning Region (SCRP) – including: 1. Pazardzhik District; 2. Plovdiv District; 3. Smolyan District; 4. Haskovo District; 5. Kardzhali District;
Northeast Planning Region (SIRP) – including: 1. Varna District; 2. Dobrich District; 3. Targovishte District; 4. Shumen District;
Southeast Planning Region (YUIRP) – including: 1. Stara Zagora District; 2. Sliven District; 3. Yambol District; 4. Burgas District
North Central Planning Region (NSCR) – including: 1. Veliko Tarnovo District; 2. Gabrovo District; 3. Ruse District; 4. Razgrad District; 5. Silistra District;
North-Western Planning Region (NWDP) – including: 1. Vidin District; 2. Vratsa District; 3. District of Montana; 4. Pleven District; 5. Lovech District
The code of the main economic activity is determined each year by the National Statistical Institute on the basis of the annual financial statements submitted by your company. In order for a code to be defined as basic, you need to have over 50% of the income from the specific activity.
The criteria according to which an enterprise is defined as micro, small or medium are formulated in Articles 3 and 4 of the Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Act, taking into account the following indicators: average number of employees, annual turnover and value of assets , for the last completed year. When determining the status of the company, partnerships and connections are taken into account – i.e. the share participation of your company in other business entities and / or the participation of other companies or individuals in your company.
One project cannot be funded by more than one programme. A company may implement more than one project at a time as long as there are no additional restrictive conditions on the part of the funding institution (e.g. to have limited grants received), as well as the capacity and resources to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of projects.
The selection of a subcontractor for the performance of a service or supply of equipment under a project financed under one of the OPs is subject to rules similar to the Public Procurement Act. In the majority of cases, the company must conduct a public selection of a supplier by announcing a procedure and concluding a contract with the latter. Failure to comply with the rules for the selection of suppliers or incorrect procedures may lead to the subsequent imposition of financial corrections to the project and even in some cases, to complete non-payment of the aid.
After the completion of the project you have the following general obligations to: maintain the results of the project for a period specified in the grant agreement, not sell or rent the purchased equipment for a certain period of time, as well as the possibility of authorized national and European control authorities come for inspection at any time for a period of 7 years after the end of the programming period. In addition, a number of procedures have specific requirements for results after the end of the project that must be met. Otherwise, the company will be subject to a financial correction.
